Whilst there never seems to be a "right" time, leaving the pruning till later will mean a denser canopy and even more foliage to be removed. There are many trees in South Parade and nearby that have not been regularly pruned meaning that there is a large canopy that practically covers over the entire road width. What has been done so far nearby to me is a great improvement, as the trees now have a more balanced canopy and will not be such a risks in a gale. I don't quite know whether this is the spending of last years money, or using fresh 2011 funds, but in my view what has been done by the tree surgeons is sympathetic to the trees. They haven't been reduced to bare stumps and they are already showing a lot of foliage. An added benefit should be fewer leaves to be swept up in the autumn. |
