As I said, no they won't be back into leaf in no time. It will take two years, only for the new growth to be killed again on the third year. You are correct in identifying the underlying problem: butchering trees is a lot cheper than pruning them correctly. There lies the rub. Also, bare stumps mean far less water being drawn from the soil by the trees, as they have no leaves to feed; that can lead to heave, which for properties is as bad as subsidence being caused by canopies that are too big and drawing to much water from the soil. Root management is a different kettle of fish. |
