The Swiss people twice rejected EU membership. Despite this, Switzerland still has a higher proportion of its trade with the EU than the UK has. Greenland and Norway don't do too badly either. I'm sure that, if the people of the UK, of Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands and others were given the choice of an arrangement similar to the Swiss or a reversion back to the Common Market, you'd see an even more convincing majority in favour. |
