| The interesting thing about many of these crackpot conspiracy theories that the Russians seem keen to spread, is that so many of them are projection - accusing your enemy of something that you yourself are guilty of. We know for sure that the deep-rooted corruption right across Russian society has had a profoundly corrosive effect and while Ukraine is not corruption-free, it is moving rapidly in the right direction. Putin isn't the least worried about a military threat from the west but he is terrified of how his subjects will react to their neighbours benefiting from living under a rules based system. The bio-labs nonsense may be something to be more concerned about as it may be indicative that Russia is conducting experiments on germ warfare. Certainly their lack of scruple in giving the goahead for Assad's chemical attacks on its own people shows they would do it if they thought they could get away with it. The chances are they are getting up to no good with biological weapons but could never actually use them because of the reaction of the dwindling group of nations still willing to deal with them particularly China and India. |
