Yes - did you not see where I wrote: "Even with F-16s the Russian's will have more modern fighter aircraft and more experienced pilots" It is not ridiculous to suggest the Ukrainians can get tactical air superiority and many experts in the field are convinced they can. You perhaps are confusing this with air supremacy which is something very different and out of the question for the Ukrainians. The Ukrainians are slowly attriting the surface to air missile capability of the invader in Crimea and if this gets to the stage where airbases such as Dzhankoi are unusable then air superiority does become theoretically possible in a small area and for a short duration. It could be two hours before the Russians could bring their numerical air advantage into play which I suppose is better than the thirteen years that your 6-gen airplanes will take to arrive. Two hours is a lot of time to do damage to your opponents if you control the skies and this wouldn't be a one off but a recurring issue for the Russians. As far as I am aware, nobody with relevant expertise is disputing this possibility. |
