The smears about him being corrupt and a drug user are FSB talking points that you seem to be happy to brainlessly repeat. His domestic opponents don't give them any credence to them which would make anybody with a mind of their own pause before repeating them. On your suggestion that one of his options is to flee, I don't see how this squares with his heroism in the days after the initial invasion when he refused an American offer of transport out. He stayed and led his country to a massive victory against the Russians in the Battle of Kyiv in which the Ukrainian Army humiliated Putin's forces despite being heavily outnumbered and outgunned. The scale of losses was such that there was a pronounced dip in scrap metal prices on international markets. This was followed by a string of stunning victories in which a substantial amount of occupied territory was liberated. Although things are far from rosy for Ukraine quite now they are a picnic compared to those dark days when nearly every body was predicting total victory for the invaders. Now Zelensky is tirelessly travelling both internationally (which Putin can't do much because of the arrest warrant out for him) and to the front lines to see his troops (which Putin can't do because he lacks courage) so my chance to get his autograph isn't going to come until this conflict is over. |
