| I think if we had been aware in advance that an event was to take place with 7,000 people in attendance there would have been an outcry and it would never have gone ahead. However, I don't think even the organisers expected these numbers. They certainly didn't seem prepared from them. They are probably not doing themselves any favours now by crowing about the event being a 'roaring success'. In public health terms it may have been anything but. However, while Mike is right to be cautious, we will have a good idea about whether or not it was responsible for spreading the disease. Let's assume half the attendees were from W4 - that would mean over 3,000 local residents were there and therefore there should be a meaningful increase in infections for the local MSOAs. We are starting from a high base of 20+ in the Chiswick area last week so even if infections go down overall it would still be a cause for concern. I'd suggest that two consecutive weeks of double digit cases for the W4 postcode area in the next couple of data points ought to be enough to raise a red flag. |
