| I started the morning early on the exit 'gate' til the market opened to keep it clear - so many people thanked us for a fabulous event and said they'd be back, by 10.30 the queue was in to Linden Gdns, full of smiling, happy people incl lots of children. I met so many familiar faces having lived here over 40 years! The stall holders had put on a fantastic display, the organisers were super organised and at all times good natured, helping we the volunteers to enjoy our volunteering. I returned after the Bedford Park Bicycle Club ride to some surrounding parks - attended by nearly 30 people led by Ed Seaton, in groups of 6 as is the rule. Everyone on it enjoyed being able to cycle to places they had not been to before, some of the women were thrilled to be accompanied to going further than they might normally do - and gorgeous children pedalling along happily. When we get more safe space then many more would cycle and unaccompanied so much to look forward to. Back to the Market from 2 til close - clicked over 7000 attendees!! Wow - and still people pouring in towards the end. All saying what a great event it was. Finished with a deserved bottle of wine at The FireStation with a friend. They said they had been busier than normal. Onwards and Upwards Chiswick High Rd! |
