| Your confusion is forgivable as even Matt Hancock struggled to explain the new rules this morning. As I understand it, and given how quickly the situation is changing, larger scale public events in the open air such as markets are still allowed as long as they have all the necessary permissions. If all such events are banned then obviously the Flower Market would need to be postponed. If not then if the local authority is happy with the event it will go ahead. As the council seems particularly well disposed to the flower market it is unlikely permission will be withdrawn. My view is that this would be fine but I am very conscious that Mike, who will know far more about this than just about anyone else posting here, disagrees. The only reason I can justify going against his view is that by the time of the next market we will have three more weeks of postcode specific data which will give us a clearer picture of how much the virus was spread by the market. |
