The ‘facts’: 1) We have no control over who or how many EU citizens choose to come to the UK, because of free movement of people between each member country, and this situation can only be exacerbated when other countries like Turkey, Albania, Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro, and possibly others, eventually join, as they all want to. 2) The real net membership fee/cost appears to be just north of £20 million per day. 3) We are to a large extent governed by people we have no real knowledge of, and some we’ve never heard of. Likewise they have no real knowledge of us either, and are not that interested as the EU is a supranational organisation where all their laws have supremacy over all other members’ laws. 4) These people are very largely unelected, and are, to the vast majority of people, faceless, bureaucratic non-entities. I fail to see why we can’t stand on our own two feet. We’ve been pretty good at it for a few thousand years. 5) We are not physically part of Europe, but we’ve had to fight wars to sort them out (and won), and now we have to put up with some European Commission & Parliament, telling us what to do and what not to do. I might just vote 'out'... |
