Alastair, motorcycling is not really dangerous,it's other road users that make motorcycling as dangerous as it is.I have ridden bikes for 36 years and in that time I have had 5 accidents,3 of them serious requiring long spells in hospital to recover. How many of these have been my fault ? None.Every single one of them involved me being hit by a car, mostly pulling out in front of me at road junctions.I don't know why,but every one of those cars were driven by a woman, who all said the same thing,"i'm sorry,I didn'tsee you".I'not quite sure how you cannot see a big Harley Davidson with the headlights on and a 1600cc engine which makes enough noise to hear it coming from a long way off,but there you go.And I find it difficult to understand how you can think the government has no say in matters when it comes to motorcycling. They say what you may ride and when. What age you need to be to ride various machines. What insurance you must carry. What you can and can't wear, and the list goes on.I found it much easier to get a licence for a gun than a licence to ride a motorcycle. |
