I think fears about 'drug tourism' are exaggerated. Lots of countries and american states have moved towards liberalisation without major problems developing. And for decades the Netherlands has (have?) done very nicely tax-wise from the popularity of their cannabis coffee shops. Another argument for a change in the law concerns the fate of youngsters who get a criminal record for a minor indulgence. Their whole futures are blighted. Several of our very top politicians might not be in the position they are had they been unlucky enough to have been nicked in their youth. Yes, I'm looking at you Mr Cameron. |
