"At a stroke it would undermine the criminal element. Plus the health benefits would be welcome." Presumably the existing dealers would just get drugs like cocaine and heroin on the NHS - or get others to obtain them - and then sell them on the street. In the meantime we would be tacitly encouraging people to take hard drugs by making them available from the local NHS clinic - would that be a good idea? |
