| I notice no royal supporter has put forward any kind of case against my suggestion that we should have an elected presidency for which any number of royals can stand - so the snide comment about Euan Blair is irrelevant as my point was that us commoners would have had the democratic choice of who the president would be and could choose the Queen, William or Charles if they chose to stand and if they are as popular as many claim. Funny how the 'rules' allowed in some nasty senior figures in dictatorships and brutal regimes but not the last two democratically elected Prime Ministers. I would the snub as, at least, the kind of rudeness and discourtesy which heads of state who are meant to be above politics should avoid. |
