| John Major isn't in the Lords, so that scarcely explains the reason for not inviting Blair and Brown. Let me offer you a marginally more convincing justification - Major is a KG, but your "insignificant has-beens" are not. The fact remains however that various front-bench politicians were invited, including the leader of the opposition. It's difficult to argue that it was a purely private and not a semi-state occasion, and therefore the suspicion remains it was a calculated, and rather spiteful, snub. |
