| Vanessa - GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT!!! ( Sorry for shouting, it's meant in a light hearted way, and I'm smiling as I write this, so hopefully you'll read this in the way I intended) April the 29th was a Bank Holiday, and while it might be Dave who 'decides' or advises what extra holiday days we have, it's the Queen who Proclaims them, and appoints days as being Bank Holidays. See http://www.london-gazette.co.uk/issues/59637/pages/24215 for the bank holiday celebrating the royal wedding. Off the top of my head, Good Friday and Christmas Day are public holidays, and technically not Bank Holidays ( except when Christmas Day falls on a Saturday or Sunday, in which case they make a proclamation and appoint the next available weekday and this replacement day is a bank holiday - ordinarily though, if December 25th is a weekday then it is not legally a Bank Holiday.) |
