| Why not test the popularity of the Royal Family by doing away with their privileges and having an elected Presidency for which they could stand? It would be interesting, for example, to see how the vote would go if Princes Charles and William both stand and whether it is true that the democratic choice of the next king would be William not Charles. And it would be open to female royals as well as males, which would be in line with anti sex discrimination laws by which applies to us common people. A good example was set by one of the guests at the wedding, Simeon Borisov of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (Simeon II according to the guest list) who wasn't wanted as King but became an elected Prime Minsiter in Bulgaria before being voted out.
