| "So what? Are those who say 'boo for the Royal Wedding' saying that it was a terrible day and their lives are now so badly affected or ruined by the event that they need to go into months of therapy to get over it?" No Steve. I and others are just fed up with people telling us we should have enjoyed it. Blah blah dress, blah blah great day that will go down in history, blah blah tourist income. Many had a great day in spite of the royal wedding. We're not cold hearted if we see some rich bint in frock and think - that's a rich bint in a frock, so what? I've been to amazing weddings, but that's because I felt an emotional attachment to those involved. Oddly enough the royal family I feel no attachment to, in much the same way I don't have a deep love for any politians. They're there to do a job, why should I get excited if their kids get married? Because I'm supposed to? I don't know them, they don't send me face book messages or call me to see if I fancy a quick one down at the Kings Head. To be honest I see everyone get exciting about it and view it as a mass act of complicity by simpletons. You are told to be excited so you get excited. For another example of this see X Factor where not very talented singers are made to look like the best talent that ever existed (except for all the truly talented people out there that would not demean themselves to go on that kind of thing). No Steve it wasn't a terrible day, and it was something that brought people together, although wars also do that. Next they'll bring back rationing for things like, I don't know, bunting. |
