At least the post-war modernism I think your referring to had an admirable agenda... What is the point of this over-sized peice of sculpture? Aside from my personal views on the aesthetic of the scheme, it seems completely ridiculous, as well as typical of an unsustainable approach to building, that office space is being proposed literally down the road from existing, unused and available commercial buildings (on the site of singapore airlines, in chiswick business park and opposite halfords). How can a speculaitve structure like this possibly be justified at such a time of environmental crisis?? No sustainable strategy can legitimise producing an office building on that site. The proposal seems flawed in so many ways; the fact that it is superfluous is most obvious to me. Since I was only recently made aware of this issue and therefore missed the meeting, could someone let me know if the developer/ architect were questioned about this? |
