Perhaps the photo doesn't do it justice - based on the photo I'd be horrified if one of the many architects/designers we worked with came up with that model for a public meeting. As I've posted before, unless there's been a dramatic change in the attitude of TfL or the Highways Agency getting them to actually appear at a hearing or inquiry to make representations against advertisements is virtually impossible - I used to cringe when the appellant's agent would quite rightly say "so the Council are concerned about the highways implications of this advertisement, yet do we have any representatives from TfL / Highways Agency here backing up the council...no we don't". I actually like the advert displays visible from the M4 anyhow, some of the buildings are just as close and the adverts give the feel that you are entering a major city. They are quite ingenious too in terms of design (with the obvious exception of Alfa Laval). Same support applies to the building on GWR with the blue/purple halo lighting around its roof, which recently seems to be not working correctly, I like unusual features like that. |
