| It's kinda interesting that some people's suggestions to improve safety have been "paint" and "look out" while in reality, the biggest improvements in safety are from removing or reducing the cause of the danger in the first place - motor vehicles. It illustrates the dual standards involved with safety in working environment and safety in the roads. If there was a dangerous machine in a factory then an approach of putting some paint on the floor and asking people to look out wouldn't be acceptable but on the roads, it is the first thing some people suggest. So they start with the least effective measures rather than the most effective. |
