They narrowed Weltje Rd itself but the collisions happen on the cycle lane before entering Weltje Rd.  Narrowing Weltje Rd is good for pedestrians walking along King Street but does nothing to stop vehicles hitting cyclists cycling by Weltje.

The casualty figures show there was no improvement with 5 cyclist casualties (2 serious) in 2024 and 4 cyclist casualties (2 serious) in 2025 provisional data.   3 months of 2026 provisional data also show 2 cyclist casualties at Weltje.

The "safety in numbers" point doesn't explain why the casualty rate at Weltje is so much more than any other junction along the route and this is because the volume of motor traffic crossing the cycle lane at Weltje is so much more than any other junction not protected by signals.

The data on collisions is from police reports and the summary information is all publicly available so it is blatantly obvious the number of collisions at Weltje is considerably higher than everywhere else.

The volume of traffic was known for Weltje and every other junction on the route before there was a single metre of cycle lane built and I can't explain why LBHF did nothing while Hounslow put in signals or restricted traffic at the high traffic junctions in their borough.
