| I never had a problem with Staveley Road being closed to through traffic around school opening & closing times. It made sense from a safety perspective - in fact not having access to Burlington Lane from the A316 closed off during the same times did look rather daft. Other than deliberately trying to stop traffic from Richmond ever getting into Chiswick, I am struggling to understand what is the issue that the latest road closures are trying to address. It is obviously not safety of kids Looking at the latest traffic data I could find (June 2021) 1. There was no appreciable difference in traffic volumes using Burlington Lane westbound between the A316 and Staveley Road between pre and post the LTN road scheme implementation 2. The traffic volumes using Staveley Road to cut through from A316 to Burlington Lane shows no appreciable difference between pre and post LTN implementation. 3. But use of Burlington Lane going west from the Staveley Road junction towards SCR shows a very significant rise (from a few hundred cars to c.3500 - this rise is almost entirely local Grove Park traffic. The conclusions that we can reach from the traffic data is that there has been a dramatic reduction in people using Grove Park roads to cut through from A316 to A4: effectively all the traffic that used to use Hartington Road for that purpose is not using the other cut through roads of Staveley or Burlington Lane. I would assume that it is using Hogarth Roundabout. The obvious issue should be what about the traffic still using Staveley Road and Burlington Lane to escape the A316. How much of that is local Grove Park traffic ? The data does not address that question and without an answer to that question it is impossible to know whether there is an issue that needs to be addressed by the new scheme |
