| Richard Bryson makes an excellent point as usual - and as usual gets unfair abuse. Michael Robinson asked for proof that cyclists were generally doing 20mph on that stretch. Richard provided that with Strava. So far today 223 cyclists have registered times on the "Embankment Drag". (The section between Westminster and Temple). 72 averaged 20mph+ with a top speed of 23.9mph. This week 1172 have registered. Top speed 26mph and 455 >20mph. This week has been wet and windy. Is 20mph+ a safe speed for a cycle in the wet? It seems ironic that one of the key campaigns of London Cycling Campaign is to get motorists limits down to 20mph. But they're not willing to have limits put on cycles. What will the speed limit be for CS9? As fast as you can go? |
