| Richard, as of ten minutes ago 1,188 people have recorded times on this segment in Strava since Monday. 426 have exceeded an average of 20mph. That is 36% of strava users. Over that 3.5 days there will have been more than 35,000 bikes on the segment. c. 17,500 on the eastbound segment as per your link. Strava is an app used by a fraction of bike riders in London. Less than 7% of the population on the Embankment in this case. These stats are inconclusive. All they tell us is that 2.4% of Embankment cycle path users exceed a 20mph average. The average speed of the remaining 90+% is not recorded. And so what anyway? Who is more reckless: the cyclists who are fit enough to get above an average of 32.187 kmh on a segregated path or the gentleman from Chiswick who pays no heed to the signs telling pedestrians not to walk on a narrow stretch of the path with poor visibility due to the hoardings and entry gate to major engineering works. |
