I've now received my letter from Waste and Recycling Services telling me that my lucky road has been chosen for the Wheeled Bin Trial. It includes a picture showing a 140 litre bin standing next to a pile of three filled black bin bags and tells me that my indivually-marked bin will be delivered in w/c 8th July together with a leaflet telling me how to use it. Collections begin w/c 15th July. I also received a green form where I can apply for a larger 240 litre bin / request to be contacted to discuss my needs if I live in a block of flats or shared house / request to use my own 140 litre wheeled bin / apply for assisted collection "if, for any reason, ...you think you may struggle with pulling your bin out on collection day". The form also includes a "Public Perception Survey". "This will help us gauge the opinions of residents about the trial". Yes/No tick boxes are provided to answer: 1. Are you in favour of using a wheeled bin for the collection of your rubbish ? 2. Do you think it will help you recycle more? 3. Does your road have a problem with littering and spillage following your weekly collection ? I wonder whether this survey is to satisfy Cllr. Ellar's statement to the Scrutiny Meeting that "Consultation was being undertaken with the affected residents throughout the trial process." http://democraticservices.hounslow.gov.uk/mgConvert2PDF.aspx?ID=7880&T=1 |
