| For many years now I have put my small bag in my lidded rubbish bin and on collection day I pull it to the side of my gate. This stops any vermin accessing the bag which is kept dry on wet days. Watching the collectors go down the street this morning they were moving at speed collecting half a dozen small bags at a time and tossing them into the lorry. If each house had to leave out a wheelie bin, imaging how much longer their collection times will be or will the operatives be expected to dive into the bottom to fetch out the small bag so they do not have to attach it to the tipper. There are, of course, several houses with large families who do need a wheelie bin but the system currently operated is far more efficient than that being proposed and there is no need to spoil our street scene with the wheelie bins - and, IMO, the ones that have been bought already are a better design than the cheap offerings the Council is proposing to impose on us. |
