HI Michael, You say "if you accept the truth of the Old Testament, why are you exempt from the Levitical laws? If not the Levitical laws, why not at least the ten commandments? " All the Old Testament laws of sacrifice for making atonement for sins and asking for God's forgiveness (the blood of the spotless Lamb and the scape goat etc including the priesthood) are now obsolete as they were perfectly fulfilled in Christ Jesus. ie an eternal sacrifice for sins and a perfect sacrifice for sins. So I, as a born again Christian, see absolutely no need to sacrifice anything for the forgiveness of my sins. My sacrifice of worship is obedience to God. The cultural laws of the day of ancient Israel - as someone has said already - are now irrelevant as they were only relevant to that culture at that time. However the moral laws - for all God's people everywhere to live under God's rule - that is personal holiness and morality - must be kept. And this is what born again Christians try to do out of obedient worship of God. As for your comments of "Why is it acceptable (apparently) for Christians to make graven images? Why, it seems, is adultery taken less seriously than homosexuality?" I am sorry that you think this. I do not think this and neither is this the Bibles message. This is a false christian message portrayed by a liberal church. The ten commandments still fully stand. Making graven images is still wrong. And if the church takes adultery less seriously than homosexuality then shame on its discrimination, its judgmental heart (for which it will be judged) and its lack of holiness. |
