'In her comments, Warsi claimed that religious people are more likely to give to charity and do other good deeds. Her remarks were made to imply that people of "faith" are somehow better and more moral than the rest of us.' agreed Robin, i also heard her on R4 a couple of days ago on the lunchtime programme and i recall she had the cheek suggesting that charity and volunteering exist only because of religion. charitable giving might well be a pillar of the muslim faith and i would not have a problem if she thought that this is how charity works in her faith, but PLEASE do not make sweeping unfounded generalistations about everyone else !!! got my back up alright i also agree with your view of the pope's 'aggressive secularism' and 'they are going to forbid christmas' claims - eh ? where ? bit fed up with all this 'we are persecuted lark' and please , Mr Ratzinger, i would like you and your cardinals to meet face to face with every person (who wishes to) who has suffered sexual abuse and rape at the hands of your church (words are cheap) yes, i understand there are thousands of them, and this will take years but this is what you have to do to take in the pain, devastation, utter despair and massive scale of what has happened - it is the least you can do !!!!! 'And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?' Disgusted of Chiswick |
