| Lucy, you sound like an eminently responsible and reasonable parent - I wish more were like you.You make many good points but in answer to your assertion that children need to socialise with adults in order to learn to socialise responsibly, while that's probably true, with respect I don't necessarily want to BE one of those adults (though I wonder if all kids were raised as well as yours, whether I would feel differently)! There are plenty of adults that have children of their own to serve as a socialising influence.Like I've said before, I don't mind being tolerant of peoples' kids sometimes as long as there are also places I can go when I want some adult-only space! Many respondents have felt that that is entirely unreasonable - given how responsible and balanced your posting has been, I wonder how you feel about that....? |
