| Well Jo, you seem to be working on the assumption that a pub's beer garden is INHERENTLY a place where you expect to find children (didn't parks used to be where you took your kid.....?) I think that's a sign of the times and sure, it is very much more like the continental approach. Me, I liked the British way of a degree of segregation between children and adults. I used to have far more fun going off on my own for adventures with other kids than I would have had constrained by what is inherently an 'adult space'. Many of us managed to grow up just fine under that 'restrictive regime' too;) But I tell you what, Jo, at least you've managed to tell me your opinion without making slights at me, so in the context of THIS thread, I reckon that makes you one of the more well-reasoned contributors! And I am happy to agree to differ with you! |
