| Our local coffee shop - and in Acton there's not a lot of choice - has been a haunt of the buggy brigade - often with toddlers and it can be a pain especially in the winter when there's really not enough space. But today there was a mothers' meeting to celebrate someone's birthday and the four or five children, maybe two-ish - who were pests six months ago - were absolutely delightful, sat at a table together, played friendlily and looked like illustrations from an old-fashioned nursery rhyme book. It was positively life-enhancing even to a curmudgeonly old bat who is grateful (sometimes) to have late teens at home. |
