| Too much vitriol from some of the populace. If a person decides for whatever reason not have children of their own, that is their decision. If your kids have flown the nest, you need to remind yourselves. Many people, especially in family-friendly Chiswick (read: this is why people move here) have children and wish to have something of a social life too. My wife and I (and most parents) understand the difference between the places we (rarely) may get to of a weekend or evening without our children; yet I do expect to be able to take the children out for meal to an acceptable venue for a bite to eat on a given lunchtime. Our eldest is at 'terrible two' stage, but we do control him as much as possible, heading for the exit if a temper strikes - what more do people want? Sit him at home 24/7? Not likely. As mentioned above, certain establishments promote themselves as 'family friendly', and we will continue to take our children there. Yes, length of stay per visit does depend on service times. But frankly, if someone thinks that all children should be banned from all venues, they frankly need a reliality check. Perhaps Chiswick could promote a buggy sign on the doors of child-friendly places. Easy to avoid if you want a quiet meal/drink, and somewhere to relax if you have the young ones in tow. Would that satisfy everyone? |
