In essence there is an oversupply of retail space in High Roads almost everywhere for reasons we all know about so the logical answer is to reduce the amount in a rebalanced way. Taking CHR, as an example, on closer inspection you will see many of the shops have been built over what was the front garden of a house behind. Wouldn't it be lovely if selected, often ugly, shops were replaced by attractive gardens standing in front of a period residence. This would go along way to creating a vibrant mixed use community that must have been the case in times past. |
