As I have said before (and nobody has disputed) I have never ever had a problem parking in CHR. It doesn't arise for me now as I mostly cycle but until a few years ago I (admit shamefacedly) practically always drove. 10 or 15 years ago Sainsury's car park on a Saturday morning was sometimes full enough that you had to tour round to get a space. No longer, I think. The much-criticised cycle lane will (if I remember correctly) reduce parking by a net 5 spaces. The free-for-all parking on Sundays, which people were complaining about on this very forum 15 years ago, will admittedly be considerably reduced. As Mr Lesniak well knows, the car park in Brentford is primarily for residential use and most of it is currently not authorised to be used until the relevant residential has been built. Note also that there will be far less parking places provided than residences so many inhabitants will have to lose their cars and use alternative transport modes, or find some private parking provision (good luck with that). I believe the developers are quoting a capital cost of £30K per parking space. |
