The reasons are irrelevant. The fact of the matter is the only people who have "undermined" the 2016 result are the same people who voted in the GE a year later. Not that I think it's made a huge difference given the size of the Tory majority after the 2015 GE, I think given the numbers involved TM would still be in hock to the hard right of the Tory party. Perversely I think a decent majority would have meant TM wouldn't have had to pander to the ERG for support, and could have safely ignored the DUP. However the principal author of the current mess is the person who thought holding a GE in 2017 was a good idea. Parliament is simply doing what it's there to do. |
