| Just to clarify, my role of lead member for Highways does not include a responsibility for parking so I have no special expertise on CPZs. I believe the new cycleway will be wholly positive for retailers on CHR and will lead immediately to a better environment for everybody, and that this benefit will increase over time. I know many disagree with this but that remains my opinion. I remember various other disasters that would be brought on by change EG that parts of London would be reduced to gridlock and retail decimated by the Congestion Charge and other parts of London would be gridlocked by closing the North side of Trafalgar Square. I believe in a few years time people will look back from a more tranquil and less congested CHR and wonder whatever all the fuss was about. And I rarely react to insults from members of the public, but I have my limits. |
