GL:"Of course yellow line parking out of hours is another matter, but I doubt it's true that "every inch" will be removed: there are roads in Chiswick other than CHR." Let's look at Sundays on CHR, today every inch of single yellow line parking is taken up and that also on the side roads, the Pavements are busy with people shopping and visiting cafes and restaurants, they're spending money because they can park without penalties. As I understand it, of course I may be wrong, if all single yellow line parking is to be removed on CHR if CS9 goes ahead, what then, if people can't park will they still come to Chiswick or go elsewhere ? My money is on the latter. Oh and the other thing I notice on Sundays is the remarkable lack of bikes / cyclists, so who spends money in Chiswick ? Pedestrians, Motorists or Cyclists ? Are you really prepared to play Russian Roulette with the future prosperity of Chiswick's businesses or do you want to see more Businesses fail through lack of trade ? I've lived on Chiswick High Road since 1974 and have seen it grow, prosper and diversify, but over the past 2 years that has reversed, what our businesses need are incentives and not disincentives like reducing parking which will drive (npi) shoppers to places where there is parking readily available. Cllr Lambert you choose. |
