Why are Jo's attempts to support the interests of local retailers so ridiculous to you? Next time you walk along Chiswick High Road take a look at all the vacant units and you'll understand why she is raising these issues. Whether you agree with her not on the ultimate impact of CS9 it has to be accepted that the construction period will be profoundly challenging for shops in the affected area and it is highly likely that it will be the final straw. Combined with the progressive reduction of bus services and parking space on the High Road, footfall looks certain to fall. Some of the criticism on this thread of Guy has been unfair. He is an honest person who knows the area and is genuinely committed to it prospering. However, there seems to be little that the Council can do to help. The decisions that are having the most negative impact on the High Road are driven by TfL and they seem to be totally dismissive of the concerns of retailers. |
