| It’s been rumoured for some time but the latest TfL board papers now confirm plans to close the Ealing branch of the District line, move the trains to increase capacity on the Richmond and Wimbledon branches of the District line and serve Ealing Broadway with the Piccadilly line instead. It isn’t mentioned in the papers but this would mean Piccadilly line stopping at Turnham Green and I assume Chiswick Park as well. However the dates aren’t altogether clear to me. The TfL board paper is for replacement of the existing Piccadilly line trains by 2026. There will be a stage 2 project to re-signal the line and increase frequency of service but I wasn’t sure if the Picca-Dist swap and Turnham Green stopping was dependent on the re-signalling or not. https://www.londonreconnections.com/2018/upgrading-the-piccadilly/ http://content.tfl.gov.uk/pic-20180516-item08-deep-tube-update.pdf |
