If you have a ticket that is valid only for zones 1 & 2, like a 7-day Z1-2 Travelcard, as soon as you set off on the District towards Ealing Broadway, you are travelling without a valid ticket. If a revenue inspector got on the train at Acton Town, say, you'd be liable for a penalty fare (£80), or worse. If you're using an Oyster card with a PAYG balance, that would solve the problem, but I suspect that TfL might not easily detect that you'd travelled via zone 3. It depends on whether there will be gates on entering the Elizabeth Line, as there are in Paris when going from the Métro to the RER. |
