It's a matter of ambition and management. A pub in Brentford that had been abandoned for years because of its reputation including a murder reopened after asking on BrentfordTW8.com whether people thought it was a good idea to reopen the Albany Arms. The response was 'no way' - nobody will go because of its reputation and because there are plenty of pubs in Brentford. They did it anyway and reopened it as the Black Dog.
