| "efforts to save this pub should have started two years ago" Indeed, Francis. Of course those efforts could have been started by anyone of any political stripe. Or even apolitical types. But I think the market has spoken. The ACV option would only doom it further. Look to Pisarro and the delay that has caused in developing that site. Or you could look at Hammersmith Bridge. There are myriad examples throughout the area where abandoned buildings sit idle for years. Nostalgic wishing doesn't make it so. Get on with it. No telling how actively it has been marketed but those looking to start a business are a tenacious lot which tells me no one has envisioned something in the space as it exists that might succeed. As an example, a pub in Hammersmith is supposedly set to become a gym. I wonder, though, if the space could be subdivided into smaller retail units. That might make it more feasible for business use to continue. |
