Paul is right. Don't take financial advice from me. It seems however the planning rules aren't very clear. Any tenant whether a community pub or a large chain would want security of tenue. This is difficult to assume if the landlord has a vested interest in your business failing. It seems in circumstances like this, the planning authorities need to be more proactive and not accept the word of some consultant who is producing a report paid for by the landlord. This was how the downsizing of the pub space was originally justified. What about Asset of Community Value status? Is it possible to get a site designated as such even though the pub is not operating? |
