I fear my carelessness in posting a photo showing a pavement cyclist will not go unnoticed. I am now expecting the ominous knock on the door to inform me that my membership of the evil cycling lobby is terminated with immediate effect! So while I still have a chance, I agree the photo doesn't prove much in itself. It was just supposed to be a reminder of those times when I don't think anyone is disputing there was much less traffic on the streets and delivery vans were a very common site on TGT. It was actually taken to show how difficult it was to socially distance at that time, not the use of the parking, but it was taken standing in the middle of the road. For weeks after the parking restrictions were put in on TGT at the beginning of May, I can't recall many comments on the damaging effect this was having on the shops there, either on this forum, from the councillors or the retailers themselves. The damage to retail only became a prominent issue after through-traffic restrictions on TGT were announced in June. |
