Cllr Gerald McGregor writes: As Leader of the Opposition it is interesting to note the latest response from the London Borough of Hounslow, which has started a slow process of disengaging from the programmes and policies that have caused so much upset to residents in both the Ealng and Hounslow parts of Chiswick. On Wednesday 28th I checked on progress of the Thames Water excavations in Acton Lane. The project manager surprised me with his response of a minimum occupation of the site until the end of November. He showed me the excavation depth by reference to the steels that were being installed for a 10-15 foot excavation. None of this was known to Hounslow council at that point..I supplied the information. Subsequently the council at my urging issued new instructions and opened roads, including Turnham Green Terrace.. a victory at last for some common sense. |
