This is all temporary. Even HBC could eventually see that another month of water works would need TG to be re-opened...temporarily. Ealing should now follow suit and open Fishers Lane (as this was closed a consequence of TG closing wasn't it?) But HBC are still on their plan and will close TG immediately the water works are finished. But even during this temporary reprieve nothing is better for Chiswick. The High Rd will continue to be gridlocked due to the works to install the incredibly badly designed cycle way. And after - it will continue to be gridlocked as there is no "give" in the narrow lanes. Every turn, slow, drop off etc will mean the whole road stops. Eventually the "traffic evaporation" that people like Michael Robinson witter on about will happen as there will be no reason to go to Chiswick as it will be as dead commercially as every town that has been killed by traffic schemes |
