The preliminary discussions between the Hounslow planners and Galliard Homes mean nothing. You, the residents, are completely free to challenge the design, the location, the environmental impact, etc. using planning law at national, regional and local level. You are free to mobilise the opposition, to encourage people to write letters/emails of objection, to challenge the developer to propose something which is more congenial in that location. It will eventually be a compromise, but then the site will be occupied and you will not have to worry about that site any more. It's a lot of work. But you must do it if you want to stop this. The "extra housing" is a red herring: under the previous version of the London Plan 40% (minimum) of housing has to be "social" or "affordable". You'll have to check what the March 2015 version says. There are lots of ways to attack this project. |
