Believe what you like Andrew. The government commission now set up to study air quality in the run-up to the decision on Heathrow which is due to report next summer can only give the go-head 'if the results are rigged' according to Zac Goldsmith and John McDonald. It is not a red herring for Heathrow as you would know had you followed the issue more closely - there are many many articles and Hansard notes about this and many of us, including politicians, are going to look at the commission's findings very carefully. To quote the a government statement on December 10th, “Secretary of State for Transport Patrick McLoughlin said, The case for aviation expansion is clear – but it’s vitally important we get the decision right so that it will benefit generations to come. We will undertake more work on environmental impacts, including air quality, noise and carbon. |
