I have just written to Hounslow Council Planning dept as follows: "I am writing to object to the above planning application which was received on 21st December 2015. I have tried to submit my comments through the planning portal (http://notices.allofhounslow.co.uk/#notice/P/2015/5555) but it says that my attempt has "failed". That is why I am writing to the general e-mail address. Please acknowledge receipt of my comments as soon as possible. I may want to add further comments. Can you tell me the deadline for comments, please? Thank you. The proposed development is (1) far too tall, (2) too dense in terms of the massing of buildings, (3) spilling over the footprint as it rises and thus (4) having an overbearing effect on its neighbours, (5) completely out of keeping with the surrounding Victorian and earlier 2-3 storey houses and 5-6 storeys offices and warehouses. When viewed from any of the surrounding roads and much further afield it is dominating presence which is an unwelcome intrusion on the skyline and the surrounding environment of low-level domestic properties. This project is a "trailblazer" for a series of huge towers which might be appropriate on the "Golden Mile" right next to the existing towers (for example next to the Beecham building or the GSK headquarters alongside the M4). But the Chiswick roundabout site is not part of the "Golden Mile". It is too far away. In addition the design is boring: international glass towers which apologize for their existence by becoming more transparent as they rise higher up. A project half the height and with a more interesting design and more open space at the base might be appropriate for this site. Please do not give planning approval for this monstrosity. Thank you."
